“Have a little bit of built in flexibility”Have you ever tried to break a rubber band by breaking it in half?

I hope not, because I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t work, at least not in normal temperatures.

Now, a toothpick is easily broken by just bending it in half.

“Have a little bit of built in flexibility”

That might sound familiar from the subject of this post.

If you partake in a super strict plan of only steamed broccoli and canned salmon, you are likely to deter off that path in the near future…..

…..and when you go off - it’s like “snap”, the toothpick breaks and you go haywire.

In the second case imagine you are a rubber band, close your eyes and focus.

While a rubber band is not as rigid or strict as a toothpick, it does not snap near as easy. An occasional bend or zig zag in your path to fitness will not send you off on a sabbatical from exercise and nutrition.

If you find yourself starting to zig zag your way to your goal, fabulous, at least you are still going toward the end goal. After all a zig zag still reaches it’s path.

A Consumer Reports Study advised that people who were most successful with reaching their fitness goals did not involve themselves with a specific diet or organization, such as Atkins, South Beach, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers or any other limiting plan.

The most successful individuals used strategies built around tried and true principles such as eating right and exercising.

Many well-intentioned fitness goals are often sidetracked when a super strict plan is violated for moment then thrown in the trash when guilt and discouragement flourish. Don’t allow yourself to snap, be flexible.
