What Is Your Locus Of Control?
Saturday, May 3rd, 2008Do you know what locus of control is?
A theoretical construct designed to assess a person’s perceived
control over his or her own behavior. The classification internal
locus indicates that the person feels in control of events; external
locus indicates that others are perceived to have that control.
That pretty much sums it up. What does this have to do with fitness?
Well it has to do with the mindset that you are in control of your
body, you are in control of how you look and feel every single day.
Fitness will always have an internal locus of control. That means
there is no one else to blame if you are not in the shape you want
to be in.
The external locus of control would have you believing that genetics
is to blame, or you don’t have enough time or whatever excuse you
can imagine.
Simply put, you are in control of your fitness, now take action,
take responsibility for your body and your life.
One of my favorite quotes goes like this, successful people in life
believe they create their life while others believe life happens to
them.
Do you go through each week hoping that weight will come off or do
you take action and know that weight will come off from the actions
you have taken.
Accept the responsibility, take action, see the results!!
