Spokane Aromatherapy: Can Aromatherapy Help You Lose Weight And Get In Shape?

And you can find aromatherapy shops in Spokane just about anywhere. But does aromatherapy really help?

What exactly is aromatherapy?

Supposedly Spokane aromatherapy uses different methods to use your body’s sense of smell to change moods, reduce stress and encourage better health. You can get essential oils, candles, lotions, and several other products that can be used as aromatherapy vehicles. Different scents are used to obtain different results, such as lavender and chamomile to help you relax, lemon and rosemary to revitalize your body, and peppermint and eucalyptus to stimulate your body.

The human sense of smell is very powerful, being able to distinguish over 10,000 different scents. We have about five million olfactory receptors. (You may find it interesting that even though humans can smell so much, dogs can smell even more! Dogs have over 220 million olfactory receptors, and is said to be more than one thousand times more sensitive than a human’s.)

Aromatherapy can also work through direct skin absorption. The peppermint and eucalyptus rubbed directly into the skin supposedly helps to stimulate the muscles.

Since the sense of smell is the least understood of all our senses, it is difficult to say if aromatherapy really works in any aspect. But there are many, many people that would “swear” by it. If it makes you feel good, and seems to affect YOUR work out and weight lose, by all means, keep up the great work! And would doesn’t like to smell nice things, anyway?

Can Spokane aromatherapy alone do any good?

No. Aromatherapy on its own doesn’t do much more than smell nice. In order to really lose weight and get in shape, and in addition to the aromatherapy, you must:

  • Eat right
  • Work out at least three times a week
  • Stay focused!
