Get In Top Shape By Moving to Spokane
Monday, January 18th, 2010
Can a city help you get in shape? Yes, it can, if that city is Spokane! Spokane is a mecca for the outdoor sports enthusiast. Water and snow sports. Hiking, biking, and rollerblading. How about golf? It’s all here! By taking advantage of our beautiful area and its multitude of outdoor sporting opportunities, you can get in shape moving to Spokane!!
Snow Sports
The Spokane area boasts multiple snowy slopes within an hour or two from downtown. Try Mt. Spokane, 49 Degrees North, Lookout Pass, Schweitzer, and many more!
Water Sports
You’ll find many opportunities to indulge your passion for water sports within a short drive of Spokane. The beautiful Spokane River runs right through the middle of the city. Long Lake, Liberty Lake, Lake Coeur d’Alene, and Hayden Lake are just a few within an easy drive. Adventures in canoeing, kayaking, wakeboarding, and waterskiing await!
Running, Biking, Rollerblading and More
Spokane’s Centennial Trail stretches 37 miles from the Idaho border to Nine Mile Falls, just northwest of downtown. Paved the entire way, the trial is quite popular with runners, walkers, rollerbladers, and bikers alike. Check it out when you move to Spokane!
Golf
Spokane residents are nuts about golf! There are at least 7 courses less than a golf ball’s throw from the city center (if you can throw 5 miles that is) and many more in outlying areas as well.
Special Events
Spokane hosts multiple events dedicated to the athletic pursuits of its residents and visitors alike.
Bloomsday
Held in May of each year, Bloomsday is a 7.46 mile race which draws runners (and walkers) of all ages and abilities. It’s a huge event many residents look forward to and participate in year after year. When you move to Spokane you can start collecting your Bloomsday t-shirt for every year!
Hoopfest
Spokane’s Hoopfest, another much anticipated annual event, is the largest 3 on 3 street basketball tournament on the planet! Kids, teens, adults, former collegiate, and even NBA players descend upon Spokane the last weekend of June each year! Grab your friends and make up a team!
Personal Training
If you plan on engaging in any of the many outdoor sporting opportunites available when you move to Spokane, you’ll want to be in top shape! It’s a very sad day when you look forward to hitting the slopes or the lake only to be injured on your first day out! Don’t let that happen to you!
Sports injuries can be avoided and you can enjoy your outdoor sport of choice free from pain and/or immobility. A qualified trainer can help you build the strength and flexibility you need to stay fit, as well as ensuring your exercise program is suitable for your needs.
Spokane residents are fortunate to have one of the best fitness trainers around right here in the Spokane area. Zach Hunt is his name and he is the owner/operator of Physzique in Liberty Lake. Zach can and will get you into the best shape of your life, you’ll have fun doing it, and best of all, you’ll be at the top of your game doing your favorite outdoor activity! You’ll love moving to Spokane if you give Zach a call at 800/719-3608. Take a look here at his website.
