How To Get a Trim and Fit Body Like the Spokane Figure Skating Professionals
Friday, January 22nd, 2010Will you be one of the thousands of people heading to the Spokane Arena this week for the U.S. Figure Skating Championships? Fans gather to admire the lean, strong and beautiful bodies of the athletes as much as they do to watch the splits, spirals, extensions, and beautiful costumes. Do you wish you had half the stamina as these athletes? Do you wish your body could be as lean, strong and beautiful? It can!
How Does a Spokane Figure Skater Stay in Shape?
Cardio
A skater needs to do cardio workouts in addition to practicing his/her skating routines. Cardio helps build skating stamina which is imperative when performing the intense skating routines we love to watch.
Stretching
Figure skaters must be very flexible to perform the moves they do. Stretching before and after a cardio workout is important. Yoga, pilates and ballet provide needed stretching exercise as well.
Strength Training
A professional figure skater doesn’t want to do heavy weight lifting as they want their body to remain lean. However, strengthening exercises without weights, such as leg lifts, are ideal.
Skating
Between the skating season months of July and December, a Spokane figure skater needs do little other than skating. During the weeks before the heavy training period, a skater will do cario for one to three days with three days of skating. They will eventually build up to seven skating days with no other cardio.
What Can I do?
The Spokane area has many opportunities for you to get lean and strong like those competing in the Spokane Figure Skating Championships. Outdoor activities include skiing, hiking, biking, rollerblading, golf, watersports, and, of course, skating too! Special events such as June’s Hoopfest and May’s Bloomsday run are activities for which you may wish to begin training!
You can also invest in home exercise equipment such as a treadmill or eliptical machine. Many people prefer joining a gym. However, before making any financial investment in either home equipment or a gym membership, you’ll want to be sure you will use your home equipment and/or go to the gym on a regular basis. Too many people make the investment only to have the home equipment gather dust and the expensive gym membership go unused. You work too hard for your money to let that be you!
How About a Personal Trainer?
Many people think that having a personal trainer is only for the “rich and famous”. The best personal trainers don’t necessarily reside in Hollywood, Los Angeles, Miami, or New York City. In fact, we have one of the top personal trainers right here in the Spokane area!
Who’s That?
Zach Hunt, owner of Physzique in Liberty Lake, is who! Working with cardio, strength training, and stretching, Zach is getting his clients into top shape just like the figure skaters we have coming into town. It’s affordable, too. You’ll have money left for those tickets to the Spokane Figure Skating Championships .
