The Moronic Nature Of Infomercials

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

http://ericcressey.blogspot.com/2008/03/herniating-disc-101-bender-ball.html

Check out this video above. If you don’t want to watch it I’ll tell
you. It’s for a new infomercial product called the Bender Ball.

Sounds fancy doesn’t it?

Until you realize it’s just a small plastic ball. Yet it’s supposed
to be the miracle that will get you into shape.

Then you take at an excerpt from a recent study:

“Repetitive flexion-extension motions with low magnitude compressive forces have been shown to be an effective mechanism for causing disc herniations.”

So really this is a disc-herniation machine. Wonderful!

Then you see it’s made by a “master trainer”. Makes you wonder about
the credibility of the fitness industry (which by the way, there was
a video on CNN this past week about that same thing.

Which you can see here if you want:

Video titled: “Personal Trainers Ungoverned”.

Are You Falling Prey To Marketing Gimmicks?

Monday, May 5th, 2008

I just wanted to let you know about a new revolution in the fitness
industry. A hot new product just came out, go ahead and check it
out right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9_amg-Aos4

I tell you I sure am excited!!

Okay, now to be serious. You may remember me talking about the
Japanese fitness rings a while back, this one fits right in with
those.

While it’s fun to watch this device for entertainment. I don’t recommend you actually use it.

The point for today is you don’t need any fancy gadgets or even any
equipment to get in great shape.

All you need is your body - the best equipment you’ll ever have. While
I agree it is nice to have equipment to make exercise easier and
sometimes more effective, you can still get started with just your body.

In other words, don’t use a lack of equipment as an excuse to get
started with your fitness program.

Just get to it!
