Spokane Fitness Tips: Do You Know How Much You Eat?

There was a recent report on ABC news about how people grossly overestimate how many calories they burn. This is also true for people underestimating how many calories they eat. Let's See... Less calories burned from exercise + More calories from food ____________________________________ More calories that stay with you (around your body) A quick example, this month being National Oatmeal Month, let's use that. When most people eat oatmeal they have a nice generous bowl, which can add up to 400-500+ calories if you not watching. Then add, orange juice, toast and butter and you're nearly at 1,000. Even if you measure out the oatmeal your likely to make a mistake. 1 serving size is 150 calories 1/2 cup. What’s The First Step?

I hope your having a great day so far.... ...and a great week, month, year!! What's the first step to creating an effective exercise plan? Scheduling your workouts into your calendar to make sure you actually do work out. Even the best intentions toward a fitness plan won't get you anywhere if you never follow through. So go get your calendar, planner, PDA, whatever you use to keep track of activities and for the next month plan out at least 20 workouts. That means scheduling in a time on each of those days you know you can get in a workout. I can't stress this enough, if your workout is not in your schedule it won't happen.
