Hey Spokane! Are You Fit For Spokane Hoopfest?

How Staying Active Year Round Can Help You Represent Your Spokane Hoopfest Team …

As the 20th Anniversary of Spohoopfest-logokane’s Hoopfest quickly approaches, basketball courts all over town are seeing more action then usual.

While some players train year round, whether on the court or just keeping physically fit, others are dusting off their sneakers for the first time since last years big event. Staying active all year will not only keep you on your A-Game for Hoopfest but give you a lifetime of health benefits.

Here are some great reasons to stay in shape year round:

  • Increased Energy Levels – exercising on a daily basis increases the strength of your heart, providing more energy to the muscles where it is needed. Other muscles in your body, therefore, have to work harder, creating increased stamina levels resulting in more energy, which is definitely needed to excell in Hoopfest.
  • Improved Appearance – even if losing fat and toning your body was not your initial goal, your body will automatically thrive on your healthy habits. You will notice longer, leaner muscles and an overall positive effect on your body.
  • Fight Disease – by working out on a regular basis you fight many dangers that come with being overweight and out of shape, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer.
  • Improve Daily Focus and Sleep – regular exercise can help you fall asleep faster and give you a deeper sleep. A better nights sleep will result in the ability to concentrate better and stay focused longer during your day.

The Unique Strains Spokane Hoopfest Can Put On Your Body

If you have played Hoopfest in the past you know how strenuous this event can be. Playing basketball in the heat of the day on black pavement surrounded by Spokane’s best supporters is nothing to take lightly.

Training your body not only helps with the ability to handle long periods of activity but it will also help you to recognize your body’s clues while playing in Hoopfest as to when you need more water, to take a break or even to push harder. By being prepared you also dramatically reduce your risk for physical injuries, which can sometimes leave you with a lifetime of problems.

What does your fitness Spokane future hold for you?

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

I have a quick question for you?

Do you have any idea what your body is going to look like 6
months from now?

Or are you going to let your circumstances decide what your
body is going to look like?

Why don’t you take a moment right now and make some goals of what you want your life to look like 3-6 months down the road.

Then make sure that every meal you eat and every bite of food
you deliver to your mouth has a purpose of progressing you
toward those goals.

So the next time you are faced with that donut at the office
party or that double fudge cake at the family potluck - you
will know the right decision to make, based on your original goals.

“What the future has in store for you depends largely upon what you place in store for the future.” - Anonymous

Planning ahead is indeed a strong indicator for reaching your
goals.

Grocery shopping is a superb example!

Plan out your grocery shopping with a list before you go.

When you get there stick to that list rather than following
your stomach, eyes and nose.

Even if the donuts are on special 2 for 1 or the apple pies are
buy 2 get 3 free, you are going to be much better off without
those tempting foods lurking around the house.

So decide what you want to look like 3-6 months from now and take action toward it.

Fitness Equipment Spokane Wa has to offer

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Have you ever thought about the fitness equipment Spokane Wa has to offer?  We live in a beautiful area that has so many fitness opportunities.  You could go with the more traditional fitness opportunities, or you could shake it up a little.  I have found fitness equipment Spokane Wa has to offer all over our beautiful city.

Fitness equipment Spokane Wa has to offer:

·         Riverfront, Manito and so many other Spokane Parks

·         Mount Spokane, 49 degrees North, and many other great destinations

·         Spokane River, Bike trails, and hiking

·         A local Spokane personal trainer

Parks are great fitness equipment Spokane has to offer:

Riverfront Park offers a variety of fitness equipment opportunities.  They have miniature golf, the Ice Palace, and have you ever thought about doing the Sculpture walk offered on Centennial Trail?  This is a great way to learn about the history of Spokane and stay fit at the same time

Manito Park is another beautiful park that offers an array of gardens you can walk through, trails you can walk and paths you can jog, bike or take a stroller on.  Depending on the time of the year Manito and Riverfront can be great fitness equipment tools in Spokane.

Mount Spokane is a great fitness equipment tool in Spokane:

Don’t look at Mount Spokane and other local ski areas as just a winter activity.  Yes, you can ski, sled and enjoy the winter, but you can also use these beautiful destinations as summer fitness equipment.  They all offer hiking trails, scenic tours, and give you a chance to admire the wildlife and the nature that surrounds us here in our area.

Use the Spokane River as a piece of fitness equipment for a good workout:

The Spokane River offers many areas for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and other physical activities you can use for your fitness goals.  Learn a new hobby, take up kayaking, canoeing or learn to swim in one of our many Rivers and Lakes in our area.

Spokane offers a variety of bike trails throughout our city. One such example is the Centennial Trail which connects Spokane, WA to Coeur d’Alene, ID. This route takes about 25 miles of the trail in Washington then goes over the mountains for the last 15 miles to Coeur d’Alene.  There are several other paths throughout our great city, just remember to be respectful of others and wear the proper protective gear.

Hiking trails are a big hit in the Spokane area.  We have several in our area that range from beginner to advanced.  Try one of these or explore and talk to some locals to give you more ideas in your area.

What better fitness equipment in Spokane Wa than a personal trainer?

I have found that not only having all the other fitness ideas I have mentioned, but having a personal trainer to motivate you helps.  When you feel you are running out of exciting options, turn to a personal trainer who can put you on the right track.  Try Zach Hunt at Physzique.  He is the #1 personal trainer in Spokane Wa.  He will motivate you and help you come to some fitness goals that are retainable. He will help you with nutrition, fitness management and give you the help you need on a one on one basis.
