I’m Missing Exercise in Spokane!

I’m Missing Exercise in Spokane!missing-exercise

Who, me?  Can’t be.  I’m the one who chooses the elevator instead of the stairs.  I purchased an  expensive eliptical  four years ago and have  used it only once!   Was I lazy?  Maybe.  Sure I had periods where I worked out.  But those periods never lasted very long.  And I can’t say I ever really looked forward to working out.   But that was then…..

And this is now….. I am actually missing exercise in Spokane!  How can it be?  Six  weeks ago I started working with a personal trainer.  It was hard work.  Really hard work.  But I stayed with it.  I liked it.  I looked forward to it.  What’s up with that?

It didn’t take very long to actually feel the results.  It wasn’t necessarily weight loss at first but a noticeable difference in my overall health.  For over one year I had been experiencing some  health problems, nothing serious, but definitely quality of life issues.

Annoying They Were…..

I had been having trouble falling asleep.  I would lie in bed for over an hour tossing and turning.  I’d also been taking a lot of Tums.  After nearly every meal and even in the middle of the night!  I was irregular.   My back hurt.  My knees hurt.  I was taking the elevator instead of the stairs.  I avoided walking down to my basement and not just because the eliptical was there.   I was turning into an old lady before my time.

And Then a Miracle….

After less than two weeks of working out in Spokane I was falling asleep in minutes!  Tums?  Didn’t need them anymore!  The irregular issue was gone too!   My back and my knees were feeling better!  I knew I’d have more energy after working out, but the fairly instant results to my other issues was staggering to me.

The “Old” Me Vs. the “New” Me

In my “former” life, I would do anything I could to avoid going to the gym.  When the dogs needed a walk around the neighborhood, I even tried to get out of that.  There was little exercise in Spokane for me.

Then a miracle occurred!  After just one week of working with my trainer, I was hooked.  I wouldn’t even consider skipping my workout.  Unfortunately it all came to an abrupt halt three weeks ago when I had some minor surgery.  My doctor wants me  to wait a full month before resuming my Spokane exercise.   I can feel the negative affects already.  Tums are back in my life!  It takes too long to fall asleep and my irregular problem has risen its ugly head.   My back is acting up again.

While  I was shocked that these  annoying ailments stopped when I started with my personal trainer, I’m even more  shocked that  they came back as quickly as they did!

What has stuck with me during my workout downtime  is that  I am doing fairly well with my eating.   Instead of a nice dose of carbs with my morning coffee, I am chosing fruit (well, most of the time).   Though my husband isn’t thrilled, I’ve knocked off making desserts at night.  I don’t miss them  and truly don’t even consider it.  Sure, I am far from perfect.  I ate french toast with powdered sugar  for dinner last night.  But I no longer eat half a loaf of french bread just driving home from the store.  That alone is progress!    I guess it’s just a change in thinking.  I’m not even aware of it, but it’s there.

I’m anxious to get back to exercise in Spokane.  I will probably find myself putting even more into the workouts than before.  That’s a good thing.  Never would I have thought I would miss working out.

You Can Too!

If you’d like to feel the way I feel, check out Zach Hunt at Physzique!  He’s considered to be the best trainer in the Spokane area and it’s true!  Anyone who can get me motivated to workout has to be good.  Take a look at this website and you’ll see just what it is that I am missing so much.

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Are you looking for a new physician in the Spokane, WA area?  Do you need a doctor to prescribe you a medication for an illness?  Spokane is home to a vast array of physicians.  Each practicing in family medicine, urgent care, pediatrics and many more specialties.

Although each physician has a very different specialty or style of practice most will prescribe exercise as the leading most important thing you can do for your life.  Life without exercise is a life full of illness, heart failure, diabetes, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, depression (and other mental illnesses), childhood obesity, adult obesity, musculoskeletal deformities/defects, and many other chronic conditions.  Not all exercise programs are alike, so make sure to check with your doctor to find out what program is right for you.  Are you ready to be healthy?  Drop clothing sizes?  Live without chronic fatigue and illness?  If you answered yes, then look no further because Zach Hunt of Physzique will be there every step of the way to help you make sure those things happen.

When you’re ready to fill your physicians prescription for better health here’s a checklist to help make it happen:

  • Contact Zach at Physzique right away

  • Contact your physician to make sure the program is right for you
  • Show up for all of your appointments at Physzique
  • Follow Zach’s recommendations for cardio exercise outside of personal training sessions
  • Eat a well balanced, healthy meal plan frequently throughout the day
  • Rest your mind and body at night while sleeping 6-8 hours each night
  • Take small breaks throughout the day to relieve stress from work and home life
  • Drink half of your weight in ounces of water each day

Once you’re ready to start a new, healthy fulfilling life by contacting Physique you’ll be so glad you did.  Doctors/physicians appointments get expensive and the prescriptions they write while you’re there can be just as expensive, but at Physzique Zach believes in giving the gift of better health.  Zach will be there to push you to try new things and he’ll hold you accountable for your eating habits, personal training seasons, and workout intensity.  Even when you want to give up or give in, he won’t let you.  Isn’t that really what we all need to help us achieve better health?  Somebody that is going to be there for us when we don’t feel well?  A lot like a doctor, Zach will be there when you don’t feel well.  Physzique will be just what your Spokane physician prescribed for better health-EXERCISE!

Bitten by the Spokane Exercise Bug

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

With the onslaught of spring sunshine and the continued effort of my trainer, I am finding myself bitten by the Spokane Exercise Bug…jump-rope

Are you wondering what that is?  I was wondering myself, until it bit me.

For some strange reason I actually find myself wanting to exercise…on purpose!  So much so that I’ve resorted to interval training on the way to the park with my six-year old and I purposely take the long way.

Spokane Exercise: Am I Crazy?

I must be crazy!  I’ve gone from couch potato to exercise enthusiast in less than two months?  Is that even possible?  The good thing is that I’ll get great benefits from this newfound enthusiasm.

  • Feeling better
  • Looking better
  • Boosting metabolism
  • Losing weight
  • Setting an example for the family
  • Having fun
  • Increased energy

Love Your New Energy In Spokane

One of the things I am really enjoying is doing things with my daughter that I used to not do because I just couldn’t muster the energy.  Now I am finding myself keeping up with her and taking her on run/walks to the park.  Any excuse to go outside!

When I was younger I was always outside, I couldn’t seem to get enough of it.  Now I am really starting to love it again. It brings so much joy and gratitude, not only for my trainer but for me as well, for valuing myself enough to make “me” a priority again.

A Long Road In Spokane

It’s been a long and arduous road to finally get to this point, and there are certainly times when I question what I’m doing. (Usually in the middle of a training session with Zach, ha ha!)

Granted, I am certainly not perfect, nor close to my goals, but I am making significant progress in my attitudes and that in itself is half the battle.  Believe me, if I can do this, me a 40 year old mother of five with a former love affair with the couch….anybody can do this! Even you!

I can guarantee though that you are going to need help getting started and there is no one better to help you with that than my trainer, Zach at Physzique in Spokane.  He will help you find your way to getting bitten by your own Spokane Exercise Bug, and support your efforts while you’re doing it.

I love his encouragement and push to do better even when I think I can’t and somehow I always seem to manage.  He just draws that out of you.  The cool thing about him is that he has been there.  He’s done the couch potato thing; he knows what it takes to change and is willing to help you do it.  He wants you to succeed as much (or more, some days) than you do.

Don’t be afraid to take that first step because before you know it, you’ll find it leading to leaps and bounds.
